Social Networks
Google+ is hoping to take over Facebook and become the new and innovative social network by introducing features that allow its members to have more control of its usage. For one, Google+ lets its users create different groups to categorize friends by relationship. Groups of friends, groups of family, groups of co-workers and so forth can make a smaller networks and thus, hold more intimate online conversations and/or connections. This seems ideal for a person like me who wishes to make status posts that directly relate to family or friends and is particular about who reads them. If someone want to rant about work, they can do so to their family without having to worry about their co-workers reading it. You can also have impromptu meeting with coworkers without having to wait till you meet at work. I can use this when I want to conference with the other Kindergarten teachers at my school. Sometimes, I just don't have the time to meet after school. I have to come home and make dinner for my family. With Google+, we can have those meetings from home whenever necessary. That's their "Huddle" feature, which I plan to use to communicate with my best friend who lives in Texas. Will it take over Facebook? I'm not so sure. But with these kinds of features, it's definitely worth giving it a chance!

Does txting make me bilingual?
In one of our class discussions, we talked about this new language that is quickly emerging in our digital world: texting. For a moment I thought, well I can text so does that mean I can add this as a language on my resume? It wouldn't hurt considering its being used internationally. But can it really be considered a new language if it not spoken and has no rules of grammar? I don't think so. I see it as a new code, like morse code. Wait... I just had a quick thought. What about American Sign Language? That's not spoken. Or, Braille? Is it considered a language? I guess it's more complicated than I thought. I have a feeling this might spark a whole new debate from the linguists in our class! :)Design Choices
Discovering all of the templates in blogger can be quite fun, especially since they offer such a variety of images to choose from. These can from that can really set the tone for your blog. I choose a red template because if you know me, you know that red is my absolute favorite color in the world. However, the red I love is not loud and painful; it is bold but subtle. This red wants you to know that it's there, but it doesn't want you to cringe every time you see it. I also loved the texture of this template because it gives you a sense of something you can feel, or something that is real. This wall, though digital, will be where I will "write" my ideas or any epiphanies I have about the digital media through out the semester. The script font of my blog title is away for me to reiterate the feeling of writing on this mode the same way I would write on journal. I would prefer to use this font for the body of my posts as well, but I take into account that my readers may find this font to be difficult to read. These design choices create a blog that not only will appeal to my audience but also stays true to who I am and want to be perceived by my readers.
